Thermodynamic Evaluation of the Intermediate Liquid Compounds (ILC) from Biomass Fast Pyrolysis

نویسندگان

چکیده

Biomass fast pyrolysis process is a technology that converts renewable solids into dense liquid. This study aims to apprehend the thermodynamic behaviour of Intermediate Liquid Compounds (ILCs) observed during biomass pyrolysis. The system studied was closed (20 mL) with air and mixture solution five components (Acetic acid (AA), hydroxyacetone (HX), phenol; furfural (FF) methanol) at 90°C under atmospheric pressure. flash calculation conducted given temperature vapor-liquid equilibrium compositions were determined combining equation state activity coefficient models, Soave-Redlich-Kwong (SRK) coupled Modified Huron-Vidal (MHV2) mixing rules incorporating UNIversal Functionnal Activity Coefficient (UNIFAC) model. Theoretical calculations experimentally validated by using Head-Space GC-MS system. A quantitative agreement between simulated measured concentrations in liquid phase achieved this combined state-predictive model SRK-MHV2-UNIFAC model; thus, confirming it accounts well for nonidealities.

Intermediate pyrolysis of biomass energy pellets for producing sustainable liquid, gaseous and solid fuels.

This work describes the use of intermediate pyrolysis system to produce liquid, gaseous and solid fuels from pelletised wood and barley straw feedstock. Experiments were conducted in a pilot-scale system and all products were collected and analysed. The liquid products were separated into an aqueous phase and an organic phase (pyrolysis oil) under gravity. The oil yields were 34.1 wt.% and 12.0...

Optimization of biomass fast pyrolysis for the production of monomers

Fast pyrolysis is a promising method for producing advanced biofuels and chemicals from lignocellulosic biomass. The process will however require further optimization to produce fuels and chemicals at a price competitive to conventional fossil fuel-derived products. Research in this dissertation focuses on both preand postprocesses for optimizing fast pyrolysis to produce increased yields of va...

Green gasoline by catalytic fast pyrolysis of solid biomass derived compounds.

Owing to its low cost and large availability, lignocellulosic biomass is being studied worldwide as a feedstock for renewable liquid biofuels. Lignocellulosic biomass is not currently used as a liquid fuel because economical processes for its conversion have not yet been developed. Currently, there are several routes being studied to convert solid biomass into a liquid fuel which involve multip...
